Yana Caves
Yana caves are located inside the tropical forest or Uttara Kannada in Karnataka, India. The treks to the caves have beautiful traveling trail surrounded by lush green forest, mesmerizing scenic beauty of the landscape, beautiful caves, bubbling river and variety of flora and fauna. Check out some of the rare species of butterflies and birds in this area.
Yana Caves and Temple
At the Yana caves, limestone rock formations and black karst structures can be seen. The two unique rocks located in the area are Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara that are 120 and 90 meters high, respectively. These rocks attract numerous tourists to this beautiful location. Bhairaveshwara Shikhara embodies self-manifested Shiva lingam and the Mohini Shikhara has an idol of goddess Parvati inside it.
During the Shivratri celebration, these caves attract a lot of visitors every year here. These two sooty rock hillocks are made up of crystalline limestone and can be seen above the blanket of the green forest as they rise sharply at their location.
3 kilometer of the trek to Yana caves is covered with thick and damp forest which is apt for nature walks.
Check out mountain hill locks. Visit an unusual corner of Karnataka that is laced with lush greenery. Visit the temples on the site of the cave.
Enjoy the relaxed evening at the Apsarakonda waterfall. For beach persons, Apsarakonda beach is the perfect destination.
Apsarakonda Waterfall
The Apsarakond usually referred to as "The ponds of the angels" is believed to have an ancient origin. This beautiful place has a mesmerizing view. To reach the waterfall you have to Trek through the Jungle. The track is small. Water flows down through the roots of a peepal tree that comes down to the pond below. This is not the end of mystery here. Behind the green jungle are the caves that are believed to be occupied by Pandavas when they were in their exile. Pandava caves are one of the major attractions at this location.
Visit the waterfall area around the monsoon when it is full of voluminous water.
Apsarakonda is a village 8 km from Honnavar bus stand in the district of Uttara Kannada, Karnataka. And Apsarakonda waterfall is located in this village where the water cascades into a pond which faces a beach.
The garden around the waterfall offers a perfect spot to enjoy the beach view. It is believed that angels use to take bath in this pond and hence it was named Apsarakonda.
