The valley of flowers ia a world heritage site in the far interiors of Garhwal Himalayas which is over 87.5 sq. Km. It is also the part of the famous Nanda Devi Biosphere. It is at an altitude of 3250m and is home to many endemic varieties of alpine flowers and plants.

This region also plays home to many rare & endangered species of animals like Asiatic black bear, brown bear, snow leopard, blue sheep and more. Our trek into the valley will have you walking mostly to most parts of the area and at times climb up to the beautiful vantage point to observe the immense beauty of this natural world.

To make this trek comfortable for a wider audience we have a beautiful & very comfortable campsite at Ghangria as a base for explorations into the valley. Different flowers bloom in different months but the peak blooming period is from mid-July to mid-August. Almost 300 species of wildflowers thrive here unhindered by humanity.

The prominent species are Brahmakamal, Blue Poppy, Cobra Lily Anemone, Geranium and Marsh Marigold & Prinula. Also, the valley of flowers has to offer much more than flowers. There are waterfalls, glaciers, towering mountains, big rivers, and quaint villages. These myriad shades of the valley will ensure that you have a most memorable trip in the mountains.

Detailed Valley of Flowers Trek Itinerary

Day 1 - Dehradun - Joshimath (287 kms/8-9 hrs):

Start the day early with quick breakfast drive to Joshimath via Devprayag. Devprayag is the meeting place of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda River, from where the holy river Ganges start. Reach Joshimath by evening and check into the hotel to enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 - Joshimath - Govindghat (26 kms/1 hrs) - Ghangaria (14 kms/3-4 hrs):

Today post breakfast, we start our drive to Govindghat which is the start point of our trek. Once we reach Govindghat, we begin our gradual ascent along the pilgrim trail to Ghangaria. Ghangaria is our campsite to reach by evening to check into the hotel. Enjoy the dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ghangaria - Valley of Flowers - Ghangria (5 km one side/4-5 hrs):

Today post breakfast, we trek towards the Valley of Flowers (3858m) from Ghangaria. The valley is impressive with enchanting sight of rare wildflowers like Geranium, Marsh marigold, Prinula, Potentilla, Geum, Asters, Lilium, Ranunculus, Corydalis, Inula, Braham Kamal, Campanula, Pedicularis, Arisaema, Morina, Impatiens, Bistorta, Ligularia, Anaphalis, Saxifrages, Sibbaldia, Thermo- psis, Trollius, Codonopsis, Dactylorhiza, Cypripedium, Strawberry, Epilobium, Rhododendrons and numerous others. The whole valley is 10kms long and 2kms broad which is divided by the Pushpawati stream. Post the sight enjoyment we trek back to Ghangaria campsite for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 4 - Ghangaria - Hemkund Sahib - Ghangaria (6 km one side/3-4 hrs):

We follow a similar pattern for today as we finish breakfast we start our trek towards Hemkund Sahib. Today’s trek is a steep climb towards the shores of the lake surrounded by seven snowcapped mountains now recognized as Hemkund. As the time passes by, post afternoon we start our trek back to Ghangaria campsite for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 5 - Ghangaria - Govind Ghat (4-5 hrs trek / 5 km drive ):

Today marks the return of the trek as post breakfast today we trek down to Govindghat.

Day 6 - Govindghat - Dehradun (8-9 hrs drive)

Return to Haridwar by evening.
