Detailed Valley of Flowers Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Rishikesh to Joshimath/Pipalkoti (253 km, 8-hour drive)
The journey begins early in the morning as the group assembles at the pickup point in Rishikesh at 6:30 AM. We will drive along the scenic Badrinath road, witnessing the breathtaking confluence of four rivers—Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Nand Prayag. The Alaknanda River flows beside us, making the long drive even more beautiful. Upon reaching Joshimath/Pipalkoti in the evening, we will check into our designated hotel, enjoy a delicious dinner, and rest for the night.
Note: The pickup point is Natraj Chowk / Tapovan Chowk (tentative).
Day 2: Joshimath/Pipalkoti to Pulna (22 km, 1-hour drive) | Trek to Ghangaria (9 km, 5-hour trek)
After an early breakfast, we will have a briefing session where our trek leader will provide essential details about the Valley of Flowers trek. Then, we will drive to Pulna, the starting point of the trek. From Pulna, we will begin our trek toward Ghangaria village, which is situated at 9,800 ft. The trail follows the river for most of the journey, with several dhabas and shops along the way for refreshments. As the trail flattens, we will know we are close to Ghangaria. Upon arrival, we will check into our accommodation, have dinner, and rest for the night.
Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers | Return to Ghangaria (10 km, 7-hour trek)
After breakfast, we will head towards the breathtaking Valley of Flowers National Park. The trek involves a gradual altitude gain from 9,600 ft to 11,500 ft, making it a comfortable walk. After reaching the forest check post, we will get our entry tickets and step into a mesmerizing landscape filled with over 300 species of blooming flowers. The valley stretches for nearly 6-7 km, ending at a glacier. Since camping and eating are not allowed inside the valley, we will soak in the stunning views before making our way back to Ghangaria for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib (14 km, 9-hour trek) | Return to Ghangaria
After breakfast, we will begin our steep ascent to Hemkund Sahib, the world’s highest Gurudwara at 15,200 ft. The trek is challenging, with a stone-paved uphill path, but porters and mules are available to assist if needed. Along the way, small shops offer refreshments to keep us energized. Upon reaching Hemkund Sahib, we will visit the Gurudwara and the sacred Hemkund Sarovar, surrounded by the majestic Saptarishi peaks. After experiencing the spiritual serenity, enjoying hot chai, and relishing the famous Gurudwara khichdi, we will descend back to Ghangaria, where we will have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 5: Ghangaria to Pulna (9 km, 5-hour trek) | Drive to Joshimath/Pipalkoti (22 km, 1-hour drive)
After an early morning tea and breakfast, we will begin our descent to Pulna. The return trek is relatively easy, allowing us to enjoy the final views of the beautiful trails. Once we reach Pulna, we will drive back to Joshimath/Pipalkoti. Upon arrival, we will check into our accommodation, enjoy a warm meal, and spend the night resting.
Day 6: Joshimath/Pipalkoti to Rishikesh (253 km, 8-hour drive)
On the final day of our journey, we will have morning tea and then begin our return drive to Rishikesh. The scenic journey will take us through the same mesmerizing landscapes, and we will arrive in Rishikesh by evening. The group will part ways with wonderful memories of the trek.
