The DurgaPooja is a festival that takes place in West Bengal. It is one of the most important Hindu festivals celebrated with extravagant grandeur in honor of Goddess Durga. The festival marks the victory of Ma Durga over the demon Mahisasura. It also symbolizes that everything good always triumphs over everything evil. DurgaPooja continues for five days. During the pooja, you will notice colored lights and themed as well as regular pandals everywhere. The Sundarbans, also in West Bengal, is one of the largest mangrove forests in the world. It lies on the delta of the Brahmaputra, Ganges, and Meghna Rivers. The area is the home of the world-renowned Royal Bengal Tigers. The name of the place comes from the Sundari trees which grow abundantly here. An itinerary encompassing both the Durgapooja and the Sundarbans exposes tourists to the culture of West Bengal.

Detailed Durga Pooja Sundarban itinerary

Day 01: Kolkata Pandal Hoping day.

Warm welcome to Kolkata. Hotel and Lodging is arranged for you by our agent who would be available to welcome you at Airport. Our site visit starts by evening with Pandal Hoping as we set our festive moodamong the Bengalis with the city full of vibrant colors and sparkling lightsinhuge number of topical and colorful Pandals revealing several forms of Goddess Durga idols. The day ends with the Overnight stay in Kolkata.

Day 02: Kolkata Local sightseeing by Tram and Taxi.

Today we start early to experience the old city charm. We start our day by visiting some of the most iconic places using the Kolkata Yellow Taxi and Vintage Tram network. Throughout our journey we stop and shop for mouthwatering street food and Bengali sweets. Our day ends by witnessing the larger than life Vijayadashmi and Visarjan ceremony. Overnight stay in Kolkata.

Day 03: Sundarban.

Today we are going to the Majestic Sundarban Mangrove forest (A home for the Bengal tiger and other endangered species). Here in evening we experience Cock fight competition. Late evening we are at relaxation by enjoying campfire and local neighborhood dance. Late night, we go on a Moonlight boat safari into the mysterious woods of Sundarban. Overnight stay in Sundarban.

Day 04: Cruise Safari to Sundarban Tiger Reserve.

Our day start early with Cruise Safari to Sundarban Tiger Reserve. Tiger reserve is a gateway with dense mangrove forest ruled by the infamous man-eater Tigers and many other variety of birds and animals. As the sun raises high by afternoon, we feast on tasty lunch prepared by local fishermen on Boat. By evening we bid adieu to Sundarban and head back to Kolkata.

Day 05: Bid Adieu Kolkata

Today we start our day with breakfast as we conclude our backpacking tour and head back to our respective town with beautiful travel stories to share.
