Aadrai Jungle One Day Trek — Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this a "one day" trek? Unlike our overnight batch that leaves Pune around midnight, this batch departs early in the morning, reaches the forest by daybreak, and returns the same night. You get the full Aadrai experience in daylight, without losing a night's sleep — ideal for families and first-time trekkers.

What time does the Aadrai day trek leave from Pune? Pickups begin at 4:30 AM (Viman Nagar) and the bus departs Pune by around 5:30 AM, reaching the base village by about 9:00 AM. You're back in Pune by roughly 10:00 PM the same day.

Where is the Aadrai Jungle Trek located? In the Malshej Ghat region near Junnar, Pune district, Maharashtra. The trailhead is at Khireshwar Village, near Pimpalgaon Joga Dam — a popular weekend trekking spot.

What is the Aadrai Jungle Trek distance? About 6 km one way, with roughly 6 hours of trekking both ways including breaks at the waterfall and viewpoint.

What is the Aadrai trek distance from Pune and Mumbai? Around 130 km from Pune (3–4 hours by road) and about 138 km from Mumbai (around 4 hours).

What is the difficulty level of the Aadrai Jungle Trek? Easy. The trail is largely gentle with a few short uphill stretches, suitable for beginners, families, and first-timers. The main thing to manage is the slippery monsoon terrain, so good trekking shoes matter.

Is the Aadrai Jungle Trek good for beginners? Yes. The route is mostly flat with some light climbs and is ideal for first-timers. Wear full-sleeve clothing, as it's a dense forest with insects.

Can I do the Aadrai trek on my own without a guide? We strongly recommend joining a guided group. The forest is dense, unmarked, and often fog-covered in the monsoon, which makes navigation difficult and increases the risk of losing the trail. Our trek leaders keep the route safe and enjoyable.

What is the best time to visit the Aadrai Jungle Trek? The monsoon season (June to September), when the Kalu Waterfall is in full flow and the forest is at its greenest, with rivers, misty mountains, and cool, pleasant weather.

Why join the Aadrai Jungle Trek from Pune with Treks and Trails? Aadrai is one of the most secluded, untouched forests in Maharashtra — its remoteness and beauty are what make it special. If you want to skip the usual tourist spots for genuine wilderness, this is it. We handle the transport, safety, and guidance so you can simply enjoy the trek.

Tips for Trekking in the Rainy Season

The monsoon is the best time to experience Aadrai, but the forest demands a little preparation. Keep these in mind:

  • Wear grippy trekking shoes, never sandals. Wet rock, mud, and stream crossings make the trail slippery — proper shoes with a deep sole are essential.
  • Pack a poncho, not an umbrella. A poncho keeps both you and your backpack dry and leaves your hands free on the trail.
  • Double-bag your electronics. Seal your phone, power bank, and ID in zip-lock pouches; add a dry bag or silica gel packs for extra protection.
  • Dress in quick-dry, full-sleeve clothing. Avoid cotton (it stays soggy) and cover up to protect against scratches, insects, and leeches.
  • Watch for leeches. Tuck trousers into socks, apply insect repellent on your legs, and carry a little salt to detach any leeches painlessly.
  • Step on rock, not moss. Green, mossy surfaces are the slickest — plant your feet on bare rock or soil where you can.
  • Carry enough water and energy snacks. Dry fruits, chocolate, energy bars, and ORS or glucose sachets keep you going.
  • Follow your trek leader at stream crossings. Water levels can rise quickly in heavy rain — never attempt a crossing alone.
  • Stay with the group. Fog reduces visibility fast in this forest; always stay within sight of your trek leader.
  • Start early and keep pace. The day-trip format already begins early — sticking to the schedule means you finish the trail before the heaviest afternoon weather.
