How you can enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends

Have you been considering going on a trekking adventure for a while? Do you think that camping is something that seems out of the realm of possibility for you? Well, it doesn't have to be that way; you can learn how to enjoy an exciting camping adventure with the following tips.

Carry Water Purification equipment.

Water is critical for your survival when hiking in the backcountry. Carry water purification tablets with you or some type of water filter capable of filtering out bacteria. There are many different kinds available at your local sporting goods store. When searching for a water source, make sure the water is flowing; stagnant water can kill you if not properly treated.

Fire Starter Kit

If you plan any backcountry trekking, a must-carry item is a fire starter kit. If you are in a survival situation, fire is a way to cook, keep you warm, purify water, and signal for help. Many camping stores sell fire starters that can be used when wet and do not require fuel. Also, try making fire when you are not in a survival situation to know you can do it if the need arises.

Reach Campsite Early

When you reach your campsite, the first thing you should do is to start collecting wood for your fire. You won't feel like it later on, and if you wait until dark, you will have a more challenging time finding the kind of wood you need to keep a fire going. Do it right away.

Plan your meals in advance.

When travelling to your trekking destination, plan to stop and have a meal near the campground before arriving. Being well fed before arriving will ease frustration if the campground is full or if it takes longer to get your gear set up. Use this break to discuss your plans and remind everyone how to remain safe!

Take an experienced person along.

If you are new to trekking and are going without a more experienced friend, you should consider staying in a campground rather than camping in the wilderness. This will help you learn the basics of camping while still having basic infrastructure and friendly people around you in an emergency.

Carry pictures of dangerous plants

Talk to your children and friends about the dangers and risks of camping before embarking on your journey. The information contains pictures of poisonous plants that they can use to guide what to avoid.

Carry Walkie Talkies

If you are taking your children camping with you, don't forget to bring walkie-talkies. Although each of you may own a cell phone, the area where you are camping may not have adequate coverage. Investing in walkie-talkies with a range of several miles is best. By having walkie-talkies or a Family Radio Service (FRS) radio, you can remain in contact with all family members.

Pitch your tent before sunset.

When camping, do your best to get up as early as possible. It will be your job to pitch your tent so you have somewhere to rest comfortably, and that will be much harder for you to do once it starts to get dark outside.

Carry your essentials.

Bring all of the essentials that you will need while trekking. If you forget a few things, it could ruin your entire trip. It may be helpful to list everything you need and cross it off the list when you pack it. You must include hand sanitizer, fire starters, utility knives, water, tarps, sleeping bags, tents, and prepared foods.

Carry extra food and water.

If you have never been camping before, then be sure to bring extra of everything. This is most important for things like food and drinks. Since you are inexperienced, you may underestimate how much food you need. Remember, you will probably be very active and need more food than usual.

Carry ziplock bags

If camping with children, place each set of their clothes in a zippered plastic bag or a tied plastic grocery bag. By sorting and packing their clothes in this manner, each morning, your child can grab a package and have an entire outfit for the day. When it is time to go to bed at night, each child can stuff the soiled clothing back into the plastic bag and place it back into their suitcase, but not the unworn clothing.

Join a few guided group treks.

If you haven't trekked before, then now is not the time to start being a hermit. Ask an experienced friend to go with you and show you the ropes. As you become more advanced in the hobby, you can start to take short and then more extensive trips alone and get your solitude on.

Plant to meet your water needs.

An excellent tip for anyone that is going trekking is to take plenty of water with them. In this case, there is absolutely no such thing as too much water. Plan out how much water you need, and then try to at least double the amount to be on the safe side.

Carry your First Aid Kit

Trekking can either be highly relaxing or an extremely harrowing experience. The difference between a good and a bad trip affects how well you prepare. If you can think ahead about what you might come across and protect yourself against it, you will have a great time camping.

An excellent tip for anyone planning a camping trip is to bring some hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is great for keeping your hands germ-free, but it can also act as a disinfectant if you get a cut somewhere on your body and don't have access to first aid.

Follow the leave no trace policy.

Make it a habit to leave no sign of having camped at a location. As a camper, you know how beautiful nature is, and it's your job to help keep it that way. Take any trash with you to dispose of properly. Before you go, circle your camping ground a second time to look for any litter you may have missed.

Now that you know what it takes to have a good camping trip, get ready for many exciting adventures. Use everything you learned today about camping to enjoy a good time away from your regular life routine and get an experience you'll never forget.

Sandhan Valley Trek and Camping

Sandhan Valley Rappelling

Sandhan Valley, also known as the Valley of Suspense or Valley of Shadow, is one of the greatest canyons in the splendid setting of the Sahyadri Western Ghats. The water-carved valley is 200 feet deep and about 1.5 km long. The Sandhan valley is located on the western side of the beautiful Bhandardara region, near Samrad village. The valley is surrounded by the mighty Alang, Madan, and Kulang (known as AMK-rated as the toughest trek in Sahyadri), Ratangad, Ajoba, and Kalsubai (5400 ft.), the highest peaks in the Maharashtra mountain range. The brilliant and deep rock-floored ravine is located between the two high walls of the mountain range. At some places, it's width is less than 3 ft, and at some places, sun rays are unable to reach the ground. which gives it the name: the valley of shadows.

Andharban Trek | Monsoon Trek

Andharban View

Andharban Trek, by its name, means a dark, dense forest. It is a gradual descent trek, where you are already at the top, and you will descend till the end. It is one of the most beautiful treks in Maharashtra and has lots to explore. We will be walking on a ridge offering a fantastic view of the Kundalika Valley, Bhira Dam, Devkund Waterfall, and the mountain ranges of Tamhini Ghat. Evergreen forest covers you with shade in the first half of the trek for 6 to 8 kilometers. The trek to Andharban further descends into Konkan to reach Bhira village, around 4 kilometers. Harihar Fort Trek

Harihar Fort Trekking

Harihar Fort appears to be rectangular from its base village. It is built on a triangular prism of rock. Its three faces and two edges are vertical at 90 degrees. The third edge towards the west is inclined at an angle of 75 degrees. A one-meter wide rocky staircase with niches in it is carved out for ascending and descending the Hari Har Gad Fort.

There are 117 steps in all. After you climb the first rocky staircase to the main entrance, we walk below an overhang with a sheer drop. Again, one has to climb a set of steep stairs with niches, then pass through a staircase inside the rock-like Peth Fort or Kothaligad Fort, and then reach the top of the Fort. The view from the top is excellent. After climbing these steps, we get up to the entrance door. The Fort Harihar Nashik has got a tapering plateau with a raised level in the middle. There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. Water from this pond can be used for drinking.

Making headway from here, we come across a palace that has two rooms in it. 10 to 12 people can be accommodated in this palace. One of the vertical drops of Fort Harihar facing the Nirgudpada village is called "Scottish Kada", perhaps because it was climbed for the first time in November 1986 by Doug Scott, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer, and it took him two days to do the climb. This cliff is about 170 metres in height. Harihar fort images are available in our photo gallery.
