Spiti Valley Road Tour Package Itinerary

Day One - Borivali to Ambala Cantt

Meet your Tour Leader at Borivali Station at 11 am sharp. Board 11:30 am train from Borivali to start your trip to Ambala Cantt. Enjoy multiple games in the train with everyone. Overnight in train.

 

Day Two - Ambala Cantt to Rampur

Arrive at Ambala Cantt Railway station at 8:45 am. Board your vehicle in morning around 9 am & start driving towards Rampur via Narkanda. Dinner and overnight stay at Rampur.
A good drive on a well-built road with some fantastic spots on the way for sightseeing. From Ambala to Rampur via Narkanda, the route is full of beautiful landscapes and some good eateries to relax and rejuvenate.

Day Three - Rampur to Rakchham

The route to Rakchham passes by Sangla Valley and Sarahan. Sangla is one of the most beautiful valleys in the country, and in Tibetan, the word Sangla means "Passing of the light," and the place truly lives to its name during their sunlight when the view around is just mesmerizing. 
Sarahan Bushahr is another beautiful village, where streams pass by, and orchards cover the whole landscape. The pines and oaks provide a picture-perfect pastoral background, and the river Sutlej will ring its song into your ears. Enroute visit Chitkul (Last Village of India). 
Later head back to Rakchham after spending some quality time at Chitkul. Later you will be served some lovely dinner, and you can retire for the day at your allocated rooms in the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Rakchham.

Day Four - Rakchham to Kalpa

An exciting day where you explore Kailash Kinnaur Ranges. Enroute visit Reckong Peo Market (Snow View Hotel for snacks) and Kothi Temple. Later visit Suicide Point. Once you reach the hotel at Kalpa, enjoy the majestic views of Kinnaur Kailash range from the hotel. Dinner & overnight stay at Kalpa.

Day Five - Kalpa to Tabo via Nako Lake

From Kalpa, we head to Tabo another beautiful village. Again, this route has some fantastic sightseeing opportunities. Halt at Khab (Confluence of Spiti and Satluj Rivers). Later head towards the Nako Lake and the Gue Monastery. The variety of scenic beauty and the brownish mountains is to be witnessed here. Later in evening check-in at your hotel in Tabo. Dinner and overnight stay at Tabo.

Day Six - Tabo to Dhankar to Pin Valley National Park to Kaza

Tabo is a beautiful ancient Buddhist village located in the lap of the Himalayas. Tabo Spiti is named the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas.'
Tabo India is famous for its Tabo monastery & Tabo caves. Tabo monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in India, and it's notable for being one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the country that has been continuously inhabited.
Monasteries in Himachal Pradesh offer picturesque landscapes, pleasant weather, a pristine environment, and cultural heritage.
Another busy day, where on the way you get to visit Dhankar, the confluence of Parvati and Spiti River, and later explore the majestic Pin Valley National Park. After exploring Pin Valley, drive towards Kaza. Dinner and overnight stay at Kaza.

Day Seven - Kaza Local Sightseeing - Langza to Hikkim to Komic to Key Monastery to Kaza

Today we will visit some of the highest inhabited villages in the world. After a cozy night in your comforters, wake up to a beautiful morning in Kaza. First we will drive today towards Langza. A giant painted Buddha statue stands in front of the new monastery on a hill overlooking the valley. The Buddha is shown contacting the soil in the figure, which faces west and looks out over the Spiti valley. 
The Geological Survey of India considers Spiti one of the world's most fossil-rich regions. Fossils reaching back a few hundred million years have been discovered in isolated villages of Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul and Spiti valleys. We will finally send a postcard from Hikkim to our loved ones from the highest Post office in the world. Then we will visit the highest village in India, Komic, which has a motorable road. Later visit Key Monastery and head back to Kaza in evening. Evening at leisure to explore Kaza market. Dinner and overnight stay at Kaza.

Day Eight - Kaza to Chicham Bridge to Chandratal Lake to Manali

Day eight holds more promises of capturing the picturesque views in your memories and your cameras. While driving towards Chadratal, en-route, you can visit Chicham Bridge (Highest Bridge in Asia). Afternoon visit Chandratal Lake. You can stroll around Chadratal Lake for 1-2 hours. 4 pm start your drive to Manali. Dinner and overnight stay at Manali.

Day Nine - Manali

After breakfast, full day excursion tour to Manali. (Atal Tunnel, Sissu Waterfall Sightseeing, Sajla Waterfall and Mall Road). Dinner and overnight stay at Manali.

    Things to see on Spiti Valley Tour - Spiti valley itinerary

    It is bordered by Ladakh, Lahaul, Kullu and Kinnaur. Spiti Valley at the height of 2,745 metres above sea level. The Kumzum La or Kumzum Pass, located at an altitude of 14,930 feet above sea level, is the gateway into Spiti Valley from Lahaul.

     

    Day One - Chandigarh to Rampur Route: 

    1. The Himalayan Nature Park, Kufri: 

    Full of some remarkable species of animals and diverse birds, it's a place famous amidst trekkers and bird-watching enthusiasts. If you are visiting in winter, then Fagri Festival is a must-visit.

    2. Banthia Devta Temple, Fagu: 

    Famous for its wooden carvings, it gives a glimpse of the culture of the town Fagu. It's known as Kul Devta Temple, the local God protecting the town. 

    3. Stokes Farm, Narkanda:

    Set up by a man named Satyanand Stokes, Apple Orchard is famous for its varieties of apples. The grandsons of the Stokes keep on experimenting with the varieties to provide unique tastes to everyone. 

     

    Day Two Spiti Valley Trip - Rampur to Rakchham

    1. The Bering Nag Temple, Sangla:

    Holding a high religious space in people's hearts, this architectural marvel is dedicated to Lord Jagas, considered one of Lord Shiva's forms. Every year it organizes Phulaich Fair for its devotees and visitors. 

    2. The Tibetan Wood Carving Centre, Sangla:

    The hotspot for shoppers, this place is flooded with tourists who would like to purchase Tibetan Woodworks. A must-visit to witness how much time and effort an artist puts into creating marvelous pieces out of wood.

    3. Sarahan Bushahr

    Sarahan is a tiny town in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The Bhimakali Temple, also known as Bhimadevi Temple, is dedicated to the mother goddess Bhimakali, the ruling deity of the kings of the old Bushahr State. The temple is one of 51 Shakti Peethas. 

    Because of its proximity to the historic Indo-Tibetan Road, the town is renowned as the "gateway to Kinnaur." The river Satluj is seven kilometers below Sarahan and 17 kilometers by road. Sarahan is linked to Shonitpur, which is mentioned in the Puranas. The summer capital of the Bushahr kingdom is Sarahan Bushahr, whereas the winter capital in Rampur Bushahr.

    4. Bhima Kali Temple, Sarahan:

    Considered one of the Shakti Peeths, Bhima Kali Temple is dedicated to Mother Goddess Bhimakali, the protector and head of rulers of the Bushadr State in ancient times. Emanating positive energy, this place is set in the beautiful town of Sarahan and is never to be missed.

    5. Gateway to Kinnaur:

    A Rock Tunnel, Gateway of Kinnaur. The site's name is Tranda Dhank, and the word "dhank" means "cliff." This is known as "Kinnaur's Gateway." You will enter the Kinnaur Valley, which the Sutlej River flanks.

    6. Taranda Maa Mandir

    The Maa Taranda temple in Nigulsari is located on NH-5 after the Gateway to Kinnaur. The shrine is a stopover for all cars traveling to and from Kinnaur. Taranda Devi is said to safeguard you on these treacherous paths. We always come to a halt here to offer prayers.

    7. Karcham Wangtoo Hydroelectric Plant

    The Karcham Wangtoo Hydroelectric Plant, located on the Sutlej River in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, is a 1,091 megawatt run-of-the-river hydroelectric generating facility.

     

    Day Three Spiti Valley Trip - Rakchham to Kalpa

    Things to See from Rakchham to Kalpa

    1. Apple Orchards: Batseri is the Apple Village of Himachal Pradesh, known for its beautiful landscapes. The orchards are spread all over the village; you may take permission and smell the delicious produce.

    2. Chitkul: Famous for being the last village of India. Chitkul is the final beautiful village of the Baspa Valley and the last settlement on the traditional Hindustan-Tibet trade route, located on the right bank of the Baspa River. It's also the final place in India where you may visit without a permit.

    3. Sangla: The town in Himachal Pradesh, India, near the Tibetan border, in the Baspa Valley, also known as the Sangla Valley. It is located in the Kinnaur District. The Sangla Valley, also known as the Baspa Valley, begins in Karcham and finishes in Chitkul. The locals speak the Kinnauri language and have their own culture and accent. Many well-known trek routes pass through Sangla Valley, including Rupin Valley Trek, Sangla Kande Trek, and Charang Chitkul Trek.

    4. Brelengi Gompa: The Buddhist monastery near Chitkul is a must-visit, as it's known for its quiet and serene ambiance. Set up by the Mahabodhi Society of Dalai Lama, the Kalchakra ceremony is regularly performed there.

    5. Reckong Peo Market: Being the headquarter of the district of Kinnaur, Rechong Peo's market is famous for all the hustle-bustle and availability of essentials throughout the year.

    6. The Kothi Temple: Dedicated to the Divine Mother Goddess, it's one of the oldest and auspicious temples of the district. It's believed all your wishes come true if you offer prayer here.

    7. The Suicide Point: Having dangerous trenches, it's the most photographed tourist spot. Interestingly it's known as a suicide point because of the breathtaking views.

     

    Day Four: Kalpa to Pooh village to Nako village to Gue to Tabo village 

    1. The Nako Lake: Charming you with its pristine beauty, it's known as a remote reservoir. Surrounded by Tibetan caves, it is believed Saint Padmasambhava meditated here and held discourses here for his disciples.Nako lake is one of the most photographed Lakes in Himachal Pradesh.   

    Nako temperature ranges from -10 to -20 in winters causing the Nako Lake to freeze. In summers, the weather is Nako temperature is enjoyable. The Nako Village Walk provides an understanding of the way of life in an isolated village that was not even accessible to the outside world till recently.  

     2. Gue Monastery: The mysterious mummy that sits quietly in this Monastery has been a center of attraction and a mystery for many. The Mummy Lama " Sangha Tenzin" sits in a glass case right in the center as you enter the Monastery, and there is just one empty room. The Monastery is beautifully carved, and a BSF Jawan always takes care of its security.

    The little townlet of Giu, perched at about 10,000 feet above sea level, is famed for a mystery 500-year-old mummy kept naturally. 

    3. Nako is a Himalayan hamlet in northern India, close to the Indo-China border in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh's Trans-Himalayan area. Where it borders the settlement, Nako Lake is a notable feature.Nako to Tabo distance is 64 kilometers. 

    Nako village is located on the slopes of the Reo Purgyil mountain, close to the India-Tibet border. Reo Purgyil, at 6,816 meters, is the highest mountain peak in Himachal Pradesh and is encountered in the Kinnaur district. 

    Reo Purgyil, also known as Leo Purgyil and Leo Purgyil, is a high peak in the Western Himalaya near the southern extremity of the Zanskar Range.

    Nako Himachal Pradesh village temperature can touch -20 degrees in winter. Nako weather is windy primarily, cloudy and freezing in winters. During summer, the days are pleasant and nights frigid. Nako village is a famous pitstop among travelers on the way to Tabo.

    4. Nako Monastery is a Tibetan-oriented monastery that dates from the 11th century or 1025 AD. It is identical in architecture to the Tabo Monastery. Nako Monastery Gompa buildings were damaged in the 1975 earthquake, and the monastery's brilliant artworks were destroyed in large numbers. The Nako Preservation Project (NPP) was founded in July 2002 to preserve the sanctuary and other structures in Nako.

     

    Day Five: Tabo to Dhankar to Pin Valley to Kaza

    1. Dhankar is famous for its fort and the monastery. Famously known as Dhankar Gompa, its 1000 years old civilization exists and continues to protect its roots. Spread out as a multistorey; the monastery appears like a fort. Named Lha-O-Gompa, this monastery has a small chapel for monks to offer prayers.

    The Dhankar Village in Himachal Pradesh is located at the confluence of Parvati and Spiti River, also commonly known as Pin Parvati confluence. You get to witness this beautiful conjunction that they announce with the music played by their waters.Each day we will visit different villages, monasteries, high passes, and many more unique destinations.  

    2. The Mud Village is a place to witness in the Pin Valley. This greenest patch of the valley is covered with snow in winters and remains quite cozy during spring and summer. You will feel teleported to a different world with its breathtaking scenery. Quiet villages of Spiti valley will make time stand still and allow you to focus on the present. 

    3. Pin Valley National Park: Located in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul and Spiti district. It's in the very north of India, located in the Cold Desert biosphere reserve.

    Soaked in history and contemporary Buddhist Tibetan civilization, has numerous Tibetan Buddhist influences, which can be seen in the architecture of monasteries and stupas and the day-to-day lives of its residents and lamas. Pin Valley National Park was established in 1958, protecting 675 square kilometers. 

    Pin Valley National Park creates a natural habitat for a multitude of endangered wildlife, including Snow Leopards and Siberian Ibex, attributable to its snow-covered, unexplored upper reaches and peaks.

    Kaza Spiti valley is the main town for tourists and locals. You can refill your bikes, cars, and buses here at the Indian Oil Pump. 

     

    Day Six: Kaza Local Sightseeing:

    1. Langza village: Blessed with some ancient buildings and monasteries, Langza village in Himachal pradesh surrounded by snowclad mountains. It has statues of Lord Buddha installed everywhere that overlook the sanctuary, and the mud houses are a center of attraction for tourists and locals alike. Langza village is famous for fossils that local hunters can find. Please note buying and selling fossils is illegal in Himachal Pradesh.  

    2. Komik village: The highest village in India located at 18000 feet, its beauty can only be felt with naked eyes. Drenched in countless breath-taking delights, it's home to Lundup Tsemo Gompa Buddhist Monastery. The Komic monastery is also the world's highest motorable monastery, where bikers and tourists stop by worldwide. 

    Spiti valley location is popular among bikers and tourists alike for the world's highest motorable villages, and Komic is the highest motorable village in Asia. 

    3. Hikkim village: Housing the world's highest post office, Hikkim village is covered in snow for considerable parts of the year. The Korzok Monastery is the most promising place for offering prayers for the villagers who follow Buddhism as their primary religion. Besides the height, the landscapes are too breathtakingly beautiful that you cannot fathom.

    You can send a postcard sharing your travel experience with your loved ones. The postcard comes with a stamp that was mailed from India's highest village. 

    4. Demul: Known for its homestays, it is believed Demul is named after female yak "Demu," who went grazing in the landscape to be discovered by her owner. It supports sustainable tourism and is a well-knit unit, which supports and standby by each other at all times. The green pastures and the roofed mud houses are a center of attraction for the visitors.

     

    Day 7: Kaza to Kibber Village to Chicham Bridge to Chandratal Lake 

    1. The Key Monastery: One of the oldest training centers for Lamas, Key Monastery is located at 13668 feet. Dromton founded it, a disciple of Atisha, in the 11th century; its famous for its Pasada Style architecture. It's a massive architecture, and the rooms having the murals of the Tangyur are not to be missed.

    2. The Kibber Village: Kyibar Village, aka Kibber, is another lovely village with a scarce population that is warm and polite. Famous for its Wildlife century, Kibber is located at 14200 feet.

    Kibber beautiful village, a tiny community high above the isolated Spiti Valley in Northern India, has become a one-of-a-kind destination for snow leopard enthusiasts worldwide.

    Kibber village's conservation efforts, including its location in the heart of India's snow leopard habitat. Have put it on the map as a wildlife photography destination, offering photographers the rare opportunity to see and photograph rare high-altitude wildlife surrounded by snowy trans-Himalayan peaks.

    3. The Chicham Bridge: Right Next to Kibber Village is Chicham Bridge, famous as Asia's highest man-made bridge. Built over Samba Lamba Nallah, it's astounding to pass over this bridge, and you are left with not only some spectacular views but also memories.

    Chicham Village, at an altitude of 4150 meters or 13,615 feet, is a tiny village about 22 kilometers from Kaza. It's just close to Kibber Village, a steep gorge across the Samba Lamba Nallah. Chicham Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the gorge that separates the villages of Kibber and Chicham.

    4. The Chandratal Lake: Located at the height of 14100 feet, this barren but beautiful lake is a view to watch in the night hours. Shaped like a crescent, this sweet water lake is 2.5 km wide.

     

    Day Eight: Chandratal to Koksar to Gramphu to Sissu Waterfall to Atul Tunnel to Solang valley to Manali

    1. Koksar: Being one of the coldest places, you get ample cozy places to sit and sip tea here. Especially the PWD arranged resting places and eating outlets are in vogue there. The population here is of Indo -Aryan and Tibetan origin. They look beautiful with Hazel Eyes and fair skin. You may spot foxes, bears, and even snow leopards here if you are lucky.

    2. Gramphu: It's a small civilization, and you may find some quick snack corners here. It's a stop for the people who wish to witness the silence and serenity of the Himalayas. 

    3. Sissu Waterfalls: The Sissu Waterfalls are located in Khagling, a residential area in Lahaul. The place is known for its Greenery Content, and it's a beautiful patch as you head to your final destination. Sissu Waterfalls are a part of Chandra River and are host to the beautiful Geypan Sanctuary. 

    4. Atal Tunnel: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's longest tunnel in 2020. Stretch over 9.02 km, and it connects Manali and Lahaul - Spiti Valley India. 

    5. Solang Valley: Famous for its snow-capped mountains and adventure sports, Solang Valley is flooded with tourists throughout the year. During the winters, the landscape becomes even more beautiful and mesmerizing. Its winters are spell-bounding, and you get to experience every kind of winter sport you can think of. 

     

    Day Nine - Manali to Bilaspur 

    Koldam Dam, Bilaspur: Built on River Satluj, this Dam attracts many engineering enthusiasts because of its great make. Considered a quick getaway by the locals. The reservoir is a sight to memorize, and the abundance of natural beauty is a view to capture for a lifetime.

    The Bachchretu Fort, Bilaspur: An ancient fort built in the 14th century, under Raja Ratan Chand, is picturesque and is of immense importance to the country's history. The height of the walls is a unique feature and attracts many visitors.

    You will start your day with a light breakfast and then drive to Chandigarh. You can enjoy some moments in nature and keep looking at mountains and hills around as you cross them on your way. We will drive you from Bilaspur to Chandigarh. You will enter the grand city of Chandigarh and enjoy your day at leisure before catching a connecting flight or train.

    Day Three - Rakchham to Chitkul to Kalpa

    1. Café Chitkul: An in-house café of Zostel, known for its hot coffees and some delicious munchies.

    2. Hotel Batseri: This has an in-house restaurant and serves some lip-smacking cuisines. 

     

    Day Four - Kalpa to Tabo

    1. Café Kunzom Top: Serving some traditional dishes, this café is known to be a happening place in Tabo. Located near the Monastery gives it a massive footfall as most tourists and travelers rest and rejuvenate here.

    2. Café Himalaya, Tabo: It's another café near the Monastery, and its Tea and Pakoras are must-haves. Reasonably priced, it serves basic Indian Meals.

     

    Day Five - Tabo to Kaza 

    1. Sol Café Kaza: The quiet and serene ambiance and a lovely décor welcome you here. Famous for chocolates, pancakes, and sandwiches, it serves Indian Meals too. 

    2. Park View Restaurant: Located in Old Kaza, it serves Indian Cuisine from across the country.

     

    Day Six - Kaza to Langza to Hikkim to Komic village to Kaza 

    1. Hotel Deyzor: The warm staff and beautiful location, what else would you ask for being on such a height. Despite being at such a height where cooking is not that easy, they serve some delicious food. A must-visit while you are in Langza.

    2. The Spiti Organic Kitchen: Boosting of being the highest kitchen in the world. This restaurant serves some best coffees and teas. Laze around in the sun to sip some adrak chai and lip-smacking snacks. Made from local cheese, their pasta is delicious.

     

    Day Seven - Kaza to Kibber to Chandratal 

    1. Batal Dhaba: Famous for its Daal Chawal, this Dhaba is run by fabulous people. One of the best places to grab some delicious food on your way to Chandratal.

    2. Kunzom Dhaba: Giving a feel of home-cooked food, this Dhaba is run by immensely nice people, who can even guide you around about the local sightseeing and glimpse the village life.

     

    Day Eight - Chandratal to Manali 

    1. Yak Café: Located near Main Bazaar in Lahaul Spiti, this Café serves Continental, Tibetan, and Chinese cuisines. 

    2. Hotel Dupchen: Located in Keylong, Spiti Valley, it serves Indian and Tibetan cuisines.

    3. Cafe 1947: The incredible Himalayas are warmly welcomed at Cafe 1947. The cafe's name represents freedom, as India gained independence in 1947. 

     

    Day Nine - Manali to Bilaspur 

    1. The Himachal Café and Restaurant: Great ambiance and some lip-smacking Paranthas. You would get a taste of Punjab here for sure. A place of great variety and taste, your appetite may get satisfied but not desired.

    2. Hot Spot Café: Once you pay a visit to Kandrour Bridge, drop in here for coffee and some delicious cakes that melt in your mouth. The staff is quite attentive and courteous, and you would feel welcomed and attended.

     

    Day 10: Bilaspur to Chandigarh:
